Hello Readers!
It's wonderful to meet you - I'm Jessica Wells. I am the youngest of 3 kids and come from a big Spartan Family. I grew up in Bloomfield, MI, moved to Denver, CO after grad school, and now live back near my family in Royal Oak, MI. I have a two year old nephew and it has been a privilege to watch him grow into the fabulous tot he is today. I grew up going to Michigan State football games because both of my parents went there (and actually met in their sophomore year!). I was so excited when I was accepted into my parents' alma mater! I majored in Elementary Education, minored in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), and was a member of the Urban Educators Cohort Program. While at Michigan State, I worked in the Center for Teaching and Technology as Technical Intern and Student Supervisor, where I was able to work with faculty members in the College of Education. After graduating, I taught 5th grade in Denver, CO but then moved back to Michigan where I currently live and now work as an Academic Coordinator for the Wall Street Journal. I am also a candidate for Michigan State University's Masters of the Arts in Educational Technology program. Although my classroom setting has changed, I am still teaching! My students are now adults who have students of their own. At the Wall Street Journal, I train, provide support, and cultivate relationships with professors at universities all over the country. I help them find the best ways to implement the WSJ in their university courses. While my student demographics changed quite a bit, I still show up the same way I did in my former classroom: putting my learners first. As you can see from some of my pictures, I LOVE to ski and hike. I try to go out to Colorado whenever I can to be in the mountains! I also love to travel, rock climb, cook, and spend time with my pup, Shiloh. Traveling is one of my favorite ways to learn about the world (and myself!). All pictures, including headers, were taken by me on my various travels. My favorite books to read are mysteries/thrillers that can keep my attention. When I find the book that draws me in, I usually finish it in record time because I can't put it down! Thank you for taking the time to learn a bit about me! Please contact me with any questions. |
